The Merah Putih Cooperative in Ponggok Village has created an exciting new packaging for a local snack called Pongchips. This activity aims to make the snack more attractive, especially for foreign tourists who visit the village.
Pongchips is a popular snack made from local ingredients and is a favorite souvenir from Ponggok Village. However, the old packaging had simple design and only used the local language, which was not very suitable for international customers. That is why students from Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta, from the English Education and Information Technology programs, took the initiative to redesign the packaging.
In this project, the students made the packaging look more modern and interesting. One important change was adding a description and story about the snack in English. This English text explains what makes Pongchips special and also tells about Ponggok Village as a friendly and unique tourist place.
This packaging redesign is part of a community empowerment program run by the students. It is their way of helping the village grow by combining their skills in English and technology. Now, the Pongchips package not only looks nice but can also reach more people around the world.
The Merah Putih Cooperative is happy with this innovation because it can help increase sales and attract more foreign tourists. They hope that with the new, bilingual packaging, Pongchips will become a well-known souvenir that represents Ponggok Village internationally.
