The English for Tourism program organized by GenPeti as part of the Ponggok EdiTour Initiative has entered the practical phase to support the implementation of the glocalization concept in Desa Wisata Ponggok. This program aims to strengthen the English skills of Umbul Ponggok staff and local village officials to serve tourists more professionally and support the development of local tourism with international standards.
In the second week of teaching, two sessions were held. The first session on Monday, August 11, 2025, on the second floor of the Ponggok village office, discussed “ticketing and marketing.” This activity was attended by six Umbul Ponggok staff members and focused on understanding ticket sales processes and simple marketing strategies to attract tourists. Through this material, participants learned how to explain ticket prices, provide information about tour packages, and improve their ability to interact effectively with visitors.

The second session, held on Friday, August 15, 2025, featured Mrs. Kris Cahyani Ermawati, S.ST.Par, M.Hum, a tourism lecturer from STP Sahid Surakarta, as a special resource person. The material delivered went deeper into tourism marketing involving marketing strategies tailored to the characteristics of Ponggok Village tourism. About 15 Umbul Ponggok staff attended to listen and discuss in order to gain practical insights on increasing the appeal and integrated promotion of local tourist destinations.

The main targets of this program are the workers and staff of Umbul Ponggok and village officials who are directly involved in service and village tourism development. By equipping them with relevant English skills for the tourism sector, it is hoped that smoother interactions with foreign tourists can be achieved, visitor numbers increased, and local economic growth supported sustainably.
This English for Tourism program is an important part of efforts to realize the mission of glocalization—combining local values with global standards—so that Desa Wisata Ponggok is not only known as a fascinating tourist destination but also as a village capable of managing and marketing its tourism potential professionally at the international level. The practical teaching approach with ticketing and marketing materials provides concrete skills that will facilitate village staff in daily operations and strategies to enhance tourism services.
With great hope, this activity will be a strong first step to building the quality of human resources in the village tourism sector who are competent and ready to face global tourism challenges without losing the unique local values of Ponggok.
